Data Engineer (Planning & Forecasting)

Salary: £40,000 -£50,000 PA DOE

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 9am – 6pm

Holidays: 21 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 23 days after 1 years' service

We are looking for a Data Engineer reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager for Operations. This person will be responsible for creating and maintaining the workload forecasting model for Customer Services and the Alarm Reception Centre that will allow us to predict the number of signals, calls, emails and chats that we should handle in the short, medium and long run. This will be critical information that we will then use to calculate the correct sizing of those areas..

Responsibilities

  • Developing and run scripts aimed at predicting workload for Operational areas in our Database Manager (DBeaver) based on historical data
  • Supervise tables from the Datawarehouse acting as a bridge with IT to ensure availability of required data for the model
  • Develop a model that allows to translate the predictions of workload into required manpower so we can plan our staffing needs accordingly
  • Act as an intermediary with the Workforce Management function to share and explain the outcome of the model so the can work on the correct allocation of agents and manage agendas
  • The candidate is expected to be the owner of the model and responsible for establishing a methodology that ensures accuracy in the calculation of workload and manpower as well as efficiency in the interactions with other areas.
  • The model will be done in DBeaver using SQL language

Essential and Desirable Requirements for Success in this role include:

  • Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or similar Masters or Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience in an equivalent position or consulting
  • High knowledge of Database Managers and predictive modelling
  • High knowledge of data pre-processing techniques and data optimization
  • Knowledge of languages and tools such as (Python, R, SQL, Amazon Sage Maker, S3, Redshift)
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Excel and data reporting suites such as SAP Business Objects
  • Experience working with a high volume of information and with different data sources.
  • Ability to give meaning to the resulting information.
  • Ability to synthesize and perform Story Telling to transmit the results of the analysis and algorithms performed.
  • Ability to work in transversal teams with transversal teams
  • Ability to work with predefined deadlines
  • Fluent in English and knowledge of Spanish
