They want a Data Analyst to join DWP’s Analytical Community.


Their Analytical Community is made up of around 800 analysts, including Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Economists, Statisticians, Operational Researchers and Social Researchers. They offer a wide variety of development, training and promotion opportunities, making them a great place to develop and grow as an analyst.


Their analysis in DWP is built upon comprehensive, robust and timely data, fully aligned to Departmental priorities. The wealth of data they have access to is unprecedented and allows them to work in real time, enabling their analysis to feed effectively into the decision-making process.


You’ll need to be able to understand, manipulate, accurately analyse and communicate insight from data.


Their Analysts apply a range of techniques such as statistical analysis and time series forecasting using a variety of analysis and data visualisation tools e.g. SAS, SQL, R, advanced Excel, Qlik.


There is a growing, consistent demand for analysts across DWP and they have a variety of analytical roles across their operational analysis, data development and publication, forecasting / modelling and performance measurement areas, all underpinned by an unprecedented wealth of data.


Location:


You can work from any of their analytical hub locations in Leeds, London Westminster, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield, Birmingham, Glasgow and Treforest.


Essential Criteria


  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to set team objectives, engage others, and maximise the value of analysis (lead Key Criterion*).
  • An ability to plan and prioritise, manage risk and influence outcomes across a variety of multi-disciplinary and/or multi-site teams.
  • Strong communication skills to tell a clear story using analysis tools and techniques, to influence stakeholders and inform strategic decision-making.
  • An ability to build and maintain a network across a range of stakeholders and colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Excellent analytical skills to lead, quality assure and effectively disseminate high quality analysis, in a clear and compelling way.
  • Experience of innovative software and modelling approaches, and their application to large data sets.
