Job Description

This opportunity resides in the People Data & Analytics team which is a forward-looking function that brings together data, analytics and Human Capital to enable a superior employee experience. The successful candidate will join a team of highly skilled and motivated data analysts, interpreters and translators.

The role analyses sensitive people data using various statistical or analytical techniques, builds statistical models, develops dashboards and reports, and tracks metrics to answer analytic questions derived from business problems. The role engages with key stakeholders in our Centres of Excellence, Exco and Board to understand their strategic challenges and translates these into analytics questions from which analytics solutions are built. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results over periods of up to 3 months.

Key Result Areas

  • Gathers people data from Workday and multiple other sources including a people data warehouse
  • Performs data manipulation and descriptive/exploratory data analysis
  • Has a detailed understanding of statistical concepts and their application, predictive modelling, machine learning and data science techniques
  • Performs advanced statistical analysis on people data. Interprets results and translates them into actionable business insights
  • Builds data visualisations based on sensitive people data to answer key business questions
  • Writes reports on the outcomes of analyses, identifying actionable insights to assist in solving the business problems being analysed
  • Translates people metrics, including attrition, hiring, span of control, and workforce modelling into actionable outcomes (i.e. org design, attrition hotspots to lookout for, diversity outcomes, culture outcomes, fair pay outcomes)
  • Responsible for creating end-to-end solutions which includes problem definition, data acquisition, data exploration and visualization, and presenting final results to stakeholders
  • Collaborates effectively with others to achieve results, specifically with a junior data scientist
  • Responsible for building strong working relationships with internal clients, and translating their strategic challenges into analytic questions to drive business performance
  • Works with little supervision and to very high levels of accuracy
  • Takes accountability for outcomes of their delivery
  • Identify any data discrepancies and oversee data hygiene for people analytics to ensure accuracy and clean data
  • Identifies new opportunities via statistical and data analysis
  • Proactively seeks new knowledge in data science and statistical analysis

Role Requirements

  • Actuarial, statistical, computer science, engineering, behavioural science or analytics related degree
  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics and working cross-functionally, using data insights to explain behaviours and predict outcomes
  • 4+ years of experience working with statistical methods (i.e. segmentation models, regression analysis, classification models, trend analysis, etc.)
  • Predictive Analytics - knowledge of R or Python is required
  • Knowledge of Excel, and Power BI is required
  • Knowledge of MS Fabric an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Highly adaptable and be able to manage change and ambiguity with ease
  • Focus on quality and risk
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Passion for using data to uncover insights, telling the “talent story,” and driving business performance
  • Highly consultative and able to influence others by building relationships and trust
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to translate findings to a range of audiences (technical and non-technical)
