The Short Term Desk department within Eneco Energy Trade is responsible for the short term results of customer and production portfolio.

As a Data Analyst Forecasting at Eneco Energy Trade, you are responsible for optimizing the financial trading results of Eneco on the short term markets. You will contribute by minimizing the costs of wind/solar production and customer demand. You will advise and liaise with the traders within Eneco Energy Trade, by giving them decision support and support in developing trading algorithms.
You are responsible for making a forecast of the consumption of the Eneco’s customers, and of the production of the renewable assets. You include various data sources such as weather data and historical measurement data. With a fast feedback cycle from the market, you will continuously find ways to improve the team performance.
In this role you will contribute in making the forecasting processes uniform, robust and scalable. Next to that you will also contribute in creating insights in and analysing the financial results.

- A quantitative Master’s degree with 3-5 years of work experience
- Data literate (analytical skills)
- Strong coding skills (for example: Python, but open learn and use others as well)
- Pro-active in initiating improvements and able to prioritize based on urgency and impact
- Stress resistant in terms of deadlines and exposure
- Attentive in terms of changing priorities and being able to focus at the same time
- Commercially result driven and a drive to get things done
- Good communicative skills and experience with working in teams
- Developing and improving a variety of forecast models: demand (power/gas/heat), and renewable production (wind/solar), over various time horizons (from 2 weeks ahead up to 15 minute ahead)
- Creating insights in the uncertainty of the weather, and the impact on forecasted customer consumption and renewable production
- Find, process and analyse data to create insights the financial results and understand them
- Find and implement improvements that make processes uniform, robust and scalable
- Initiate (data, model, workflow, etc.) process improvements or automation where possible to manage workload
- Analyse and develop strategies to leverage from available data
- Develop and improve market decision tooling for the trading desk
- Design and implement new propositions generating more value for the customer and creating more flexible capacity to balance the portfolio
- Coordinate and cooperate on shared activities with flex optimizer, intraday-desk and team hub (data engineers/operations)
