The Team


The role sits in the Data Capability Exchange Section in the Enterprise Transformation Branch in the Enterprise Transformation Group.


The Data Capability Exchange team are a collaborative and driven team of professionals focused on the development and implementation of the data and information management framework, systems, strategy, and policies. We actively engage with our business areas to support their business needs and improve the level of information management and data maturity across the AEC.


As part of the team, you also get to see tangible outcomes from your work: most notably the delivery of a federal election and other electoral events and services.


The Opportunity


The Data Analyst will contribute to the delivery of accurate, timely and value-add data analytics that inform a variety of operational and strategic decisions. The role will also contribute to the modernisation of the AEC through the transformation of a range of technology systems related to both organisational management and election delivery.


Working closely with experts in geospatial data, this role will take a lead in the review and improvement of an existing suite of Business Intelligence reports and SAS software code as well as working with geospatial software like ArcGIS Pro, while producing reports for management and executives using relevant data.


In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop aggregated data sets, combining data from a range of different Federal Government agencies.


To excel you’ll have:


  • Sound knowledge and experience to undertake data analysis, including the ability to effectively integrate and enrich data sources.
  • The ability to analyse and report demographic data.
  • Experience in statistics, R and/or SAS software.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large data sets and computational analyses.
  • Knowledge of visualisation software such as Power BI.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly working within a geographically dispersed network.


Desirable


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to, gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to, gain knowledge of managing geospatial data using ArcGIS Pro, AGOL and Azure Maps.
