Team Intro

TikTok-Data-Data Science team is responsible for Live growth, ecosystem and revenue strategy analytical work. We work closely with Algorithm team and Product team. The goal of the team is to generate actionable insights from data, driving Live to create an environment that brings communities together in real time to create meaningful and interactive connections around the globe. Our main tasks include metrics defining, root cause analysis, experimentation methodology, strategy evaluation and exploratory analysis to find more opportunities.

About The Role

The primary role of a Data Scientist is to conduct deep analysis of user behavior and content ecosystems to generate business insights that could be applied to actionable improving initiatives. You will work closely with cross-function teams, such as PM\RD\MLE, to improve user experience and fulfill the growth of TikTok Live


  • Drive insightful understanding of Live users and creators to accelerate better user/creator experience in Live.
  • Keep track of core metrics and attribute metric changes to root causes.
  • Use data and experiments to verify hypotheses around bottlenecks in product growth, and consult on the direction for improvement.
  • Work with MLE and product stakeholders to deLiver product insights and strategy.
  • Explore the potential opportunities via data for Live scale growth, and meanwhile detect and ensure content ecosystem healthy



  • Master's degree in statistics, econometrics, quantitative sociology or a related scientific major, with 3 years+ of related work experience;
  • Expertise in SQL and programming in Python or R;
  • Knowledge in basic machine learning and deep learning;
  • Strong analytical and causal reasoning mindset, and rigidity on statistical correctness;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Passion about Live streaming format and curiosity to deep dive.

Preferred Qualification

Minimum 3 years relevant work experience from a large-scale internet business.
