About the project:

As the first Data Analyst at the team, you’ll have the opportunity to help solve a diverse range of data and business challenges in a diverse new world of carbon footprint calculations. You’ll collaborate with Data, Engineering and Product alike for requirements and sharing your insights as we look to review and optimise our data within both existing and new ventures.

Our current tech stack includes Typescript, NodeJS, PostgreSQL and Kotlin. From an infrastructure perspective, we have built our solution using Terraform, AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Docker. A familiarity with the above will help but is not essential to the role.

About the client:

Our client is the company developing the carbon accounting software. Combining the backing of a global SaaS (Software as a Service) business, with a combination of climate science expertise and bespoke technology, our client is ready to help their customers make net zero a reality. Their software enables businesses to automate the collection of expenditure data and gather information on business activities to better understand their carbon footprint. Using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol methodology, this market-leading tech, helps business leaders set science-based targets and reduction strategies.

Your future tasks:


  • Act as an SME to continually improve our insight capability and support business users of our data
  • Responsible for providing data analytics, generation of reports, metrics and other required KPIs to inform decision making
  • Deliver analysis and insights using evidenced data to support the leadership tea
  • Stay ahead of the curve with the latest trends, tools, and technologies within data analysis domains to drive both innovation and continuous improvement and deliver high quality results
  • Collaborate effectively with Engineers, Product Managers and Climate scientists to understand data needs and key priorities, representing key data insights in a meaningful way
  • Design and build data reporting mechanism in a way that is both optimized and automated to reduce manual intervention utilizing tools where appropriate
  • Investigate performance in the functionality you’re monitoring, highlighting potential roots causes and providing recommendations to resolve issues where appropriate


Our Requirements:


  • Strong knowledge and experience in data science, ideally with experience of production environments and working with complex datasets with real world experience
  • Ability to collate and quality assure an array of data for reporting and analysis from various sources, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and reliability
  • Passion and desire to work together with others to solve technical challenges and deliver fantastic customer outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills with multiple stakeholders, with an ability to communicate calmly and concisely with the Customer and internal stakeholders
  • Proven experience with data processing frameworks and tools
  • Understanding and competence working with both relational and non-relational databases
  • Knowledge and comfort working in a dynamic abstract environment with a certain degree of uncertainty, using evidence and applying judgement to balance pace and risk


Nice to have:


  • Understanding of Modern Application Development and Deployment methodologies & toolsets (Agile, DevOps)
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience of a Cloud Data Warehouse is desirable for future but not essential
  • Experience with sustainability software or related technology solutions useful but not essential
