Are you a skilled and motivated IT professional with a background in data engineering who is looking to work for a global organisation that is in the process of delivering an Information Platform underpinned by a modern data architecture based on Microsoft Azure technology.

We're currently looking for a Data Engineer on a full time, permanent term contract basis. This position sits within the Integration and Information COE team, based in our Glasgow office.

The job:

This role will directly contribute to the development and maintenance of a modern data platform using some of the latest technologies provided on Microsoft Azure. You will be joining a team who were recently established to provide the assured data that the organisation requires to deliver and measure its strategic goals as well as its operational reporting. The role will be involved in the development of the platform aligned to Microsoft reference architectures and technology roadmaps, as well as delivering the design and development of data pipelines and data models using a Data Lakehouse approach.

Your role as a Data Engineer will require you to:

  • Design and develop data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation and delivery into a semantic model using Microsoft Azure Technologies.
  • Maintain & develop CICD automation pipelines.
  • Provide technical quality assurance for data pipeline development.
  • Provide quality assurance for the data being delivered within the Information Management solution.
  • Provide technical governance over the Information Management solution.
  • Provide input as required into architectural governance.
  • Work within projects as required.
  • Provide 3rd line support as required.

The Person:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a background in data engineering, with good programming skills, either SQL or Python focused.
  • Has experience of ETL/ELT development and design, preferably on the Microsoft platform.
  • Has experience in modelling data for analytics.
  • Has experience in optimising code for performance.
  • Has a passion for the delivery and governance of data to support organisational decision making.
  • Has good interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Has strong problem-solving skills.
  • Has the drive for personal development to make a positive impact, both in our team, and in the wider ACCA ecosystem.
  • A degree, or higher, in a computational or numerate subject, or experience in a related field.

You do not need to have experience with any of these to apply or succeed in your application.

  • Experience with one or more of: Data Factory, Synapse, Data Fabric, SSIS, Python, PySpark, SQL, TSQL, SQL Sever, SparkSQL, Deltalake, Purview, Serverless views.
  • Experience of working with one or more of GIT, JIRA, Azure DEVOPs CICD delivery automation.
  • Experience of delivering Data Warehouse solutions.
  • Experience of writing low level designs.
  • Experience of working in a project environment and an understanding of project delivery methodologies such as AGILE or Waterfall.
