About The Team

The Data & Integrations Team is a newly formed and expanding team with the key objective of consolidating and visualising valuable data stored across GSMA and 3rd party platforms into a centralised repository, as well as integrating data across business systems. We are the campions of understanding data, its health and governance across these platforms, to ensure data is regarded as a ‘first-class’ citizen.

About The Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Azure Data Engineer to join a high-motivated team working primarily within the Microsoft Data Suite of products to develop and implement end-to-end data solutions, delivering best-in-class experiences for our stakeholders and empower our colleagues to make data-driven decisions.

The Main Duties Are As Follows

  • Maintaining and enhancing the existing architecture, data pipelines, data processing and integrations
  • Design & build upon the data platform with structured data governance methodology to ensure data lineage and province can be tracked
  • Work with management and project teams to advise and develop direct data exchanges & real-time integrations between systems
  • Build and maintain the API Management layer for data federation to external systems
  • Propose, implement and support solutions to ingest data from disparate systems
  • Implement and monitor processes to meet data archiving and retention requirements
  • Conduct security assessments to identify and address vulnerabilities within the data architecture
  • Apply problem-solving skills and experience to troubleshoot and find root cause analysis for support requests
  • Take the lead for the dedicated Azure Subscriptions supporting the Data Platform
  • Manage the consumption costs required to support the platform
  • Ensure we adopt best practice and QA the system
  • Ensure changes and improvements are sustainable, efficient, and managed through a CR processes
  • Conduct security assessments to identify and address vulnerabilities
  • Manage the database servers and databases
  • Work with the teams to assess and champion the use of Microsoft’s Data and API capabilities
  • Work with the IT Operations team to:
  • Ensure consistency in design approach to support wider M365 environments
  • Proactively anticipate future impact to the GSMA based on Microsoft announcements and observed industry trends
  • Collaborate with other teams on projects that have a direct or indirect impact
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation, training and mentoring are in place to provide wider support and development capabilities within the team
  • Enable and drive system deprecation of legacy tools through implementation activities

About You

  • Proven experience developing, testing and supporting scalable data solutions using the Microsoft Data suite of products:
  • Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Event Bus, Azure Functions, Azure APIM
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modelling + warehousing as well as data integration techniques (e.g. Kimball).
  • Experience connecting directly to systems and consuming APIs with the ability to work with structured, semi-structured data (JSON, XML) and non-structured data.
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL and NoSQL Databases
  • Understand the importance of CI/CD, Azure DevOps and Release Management
  • Understand the importance of Data Governance and Compliance e.g. through the use Purview
  • Skilled using, federating and securing API’s through the use of Azure API Management
  • Working knowledge of the following would be highly beneficial:
  • Scripting: PowerShell
  • Automation + Data: Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse
  • Tools: Power BI Fabric, Azure Synapse, Data Bricks, Azure Backup, GitHub
  • Reporting: Creating reports and Dashboards using Power BI, Tableau
  • Integration Tools: Alteryx, Jitterbit
  • O365 & Modern Workplace fundamentals
