The Role

We’re looking for a new Data Engineer to join the Marketing Platform team! The Marketing Platform Team owns a key lever of growth and acquisition at Redbubble, responsible for transforming product and customer data to power off site acquisition activities.

Working predominantly with back-end systems, you will help the team build a future where they imagine anyone can discover a product they were unaware was possible, which perfectly represents their, or their loved one’s, identity. You will be at home in this team if you enjoy pairing/huddles when coding, ideation, and designing solutions.

Our primary responsibility is the maintenance and improvement of the “feed service”, which determines eligibility & ranking of artist works and sending those works through a queue-based system to our marketing providers, such as Google and Meta. Given the combination of artist works and the products they can apply to, the feed service can process up to hundreds of millions of records each day.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager, designers, engineers as well as Marketing and Commercial stakeholders to design and validate solutions.
  • Identify, communicate, and work to mitigate technical roadblocks and risks.
  • Engage with external stakeholders about technical challenges and solutions.
  • Design and optimise services handling high volume data pipelines.
  • Integrate Redbubble services with third-party cloud services.
  • Centralise and aggregate customer data.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience developing workflows with Apache Airflow using Python and SQL.
  • Google Cloud BigQuery experience working with large datasets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug issues in a complex production environment.
  • Experience integrating with marketing products (e.g. Segment/Rudderstack, Iterable, Productsup, Google Merchant Centre, Facebook, Tiktok) is a bonus.
  • Experience with services that process high volumes of data is a bonus.
