Senior Data Engineer

Description

We seek a Senior Data Engineer to bring together experts from visual design and content development to guarantee a fantastic user experience for those using our software daily. Our work involves close collaboration with clients, understanding business needs, providing top-tier engineering experiences, and applying best practices to create high-quality deliverables consistently.

This position offers a hybrid model, with 3 days per week working from the client's office for candidates from Gdansk, Wroclaw, or Krakow.

The scope of activities includes keeping the application up-to-date with all new services and policies being supported, migration to the new services, improvement of the existing functionality and approaches, even when the architecture needs to be revised and updated, and communication with other teams.

There are 2 projects that are being developed 'from scratch' by our team and fully managed within, starting from business analysis and ending up with a production version. On our project, we communicate directly with our stakeholders/ product owners from the client's side to analyze the requirements, prioritize the work and identify the best implementation approach. Because of the vast amount of different projects, we are providing an opportunity to learn in deep infrastructure and get hands-on experience with GCP (Pentaho, Kettle, Data prep), PLX/ Data Studio (dashboards), and BQ (Big Query).

The additional great point about our project is that it's not the only 1 application, but different ones that help to extend the knowledge base quickly and be a good starting point for getting familiar with the client's internal stack. The main thing we require from candidates is a vital analytical skill to study quickly and maintain a creative approach.

What You’ll Do

• Support the whole data pipeline's successful executions, starting from raw data through structuring data and pushing it to big query and PLX dashboards
• Being able to identify and fix potential issues with the data source (e.g., the data source is not connected/changed structure)
• Identifying and fixing (or escalating) potential issues with data itself (data is wrong)
• Understand the logic behind queries in relation to the business cases (and what data is valuable for a business to be represented on the dashboard)
• Communicate with key stakeholders and engineering leadership to intake the knowledge for supporting the project
  
  
  

What You Have

• Strong SQL skills. Ability to read, modify and create complex queries. Combined with good business analysis skills, be able to interpret, judge data quality, and summarize information accordingly
• Experience in dashboarding
• Working knowledge of the Google-specific version of Hitachi Pentaho Data Integrator (Pantheon ETL)
  
  
  

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Google Cloud DataPrep. This is one of the tools used in GCP
• Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP). GCP is a large collection of tools where we only use a small portion of the offerings. Working knowledge of module offerings and how security/access controls are being done in GCP is necessary
• Knowledge of PLX will help
• Understanding of object-oriented concepts
