Role purpose

The Data Engineer role is responsible for shaping and transforming complex structured and un-structured data into clean and easy to use data sets for both internal and external stakeholders. The Data Engineer Intern plays a key role in supporting Vicinity’s strategic data objectives and is required to work closely with various subject matter experts to turn their ideas into tangible working products and services.

The role is an opportunity for an intern Data Engineer to keep Vicinity on the cutting edge of digital technology and to help us become a data-driven algorithmic business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with delivery of data for business intelligence, advanced analytics, AI and machine learning across the enterprise, as well for system integration to serve both internal corporate systems and real-time customer facing digital channels and assets.
  • Assist in the creation, modification, and maintenance of our data platform, and to ensure data assets are housed securely in accordance with data protection and privacy laws.
  • Work to understand business problems and to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Learn about the property industry and apply logical thinking using research and data analysis to help solve business problems and resolve issues.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development activities and be accountable for personal and professional development.

Capability and Experience

  • Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree: Qualification completed within the last 18 months and able to demonstrate the knowledge gained through education and apply this in a business setting.
