Data Engineer

What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a data engineer to join our engineering team in support of our data modernization strategy.

You will be joining a dynamic and growing team with focused on transforming the way we work with data both for operational and reporting and modernizing our tooling to facilitate ML and actionable real-time insights. The ideal candidate will have good understanding of Data Engineering core concepts, experience with the in the required toolchain, passionate about the quality of their work and with a zeal to learn.

Apart from your technical knowledge and curiosity, your interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to articulate and enunciate complex concepts will be other strong assets that will help you succeed in this position.

What will you do?

Your data to day functions will include:

• Building modern ETL pipelines that aggregate, cleanse, transform, ingest data from various sources, enrich and disseminate to environments where they can be modelled and analyzed.
• perform data modeling, mapping, source tracing
• work with SQL environments as well as Hadoop/Hive day to day
• operationalizing streaming data flows and setting up streaming data processors
• setting up the pipeline tools for scalability and monitoring
• collaborating with data scientists in prototyping and operationalizing machine learning models
  
  

What do you need to bring?

Required Experience And Skills

• At least 3 years of experience in Software Engineering or Data Engineering
• Excellent skills and at least 2 years of past work experience with
• Core SQL database concepts, including creating DDL, DML scripts, normalization, running and optimizing SQL queries on RDBMS like MS SQL server,
• Working knowledge of Hadoop Data lake tools, specially HIVE or DataMeer
• Prior experience with Liquibase, Git code repos like GitHub
  

NICE TO HAVE

• Working knowledge of MapReduce or Spark
• Setting up many to many data pipelines with Apache Kafka and Kafka connect
• At least one NoSQL database like MongoDB, Cassandra or HBase
• Java and/or Bash scripting
• container-based virtualization e.g. kubernetes or docker
• BI reporting using Tableau
• Working with Java based tooling specifically Spring stack to produce and consume
  
  

REST services

• ORM frameworks like Hibernate
• CI/CD tools like Jenkins, UCD or Ansible
• Knowledge of authorization frameworks like OAuth 2
