POSITION: Associate Data Engineer

Data Scientist

Remote or New York, NY

The Associate Data Engineer will work with the Data Science team, along with other programmers and analysts at Candid, to improve and maintain our statistical and machine learning models, build new machine learning prototypes, and create tools to visualize data model outputs so that internal staff can easily understand and participate in the improvement of those models on an ongoing basis. The Associate Data Engineer will also build applications and tools for the purpose of data collection, refinement and cleansing.

• Work with other data scientists on an agile team to define and execute data science solutions.
• Perform data wrangling to extract exploratory insights.
• Analyze and build features for machine learning models.
• Create and maintain data pipeline architecture.
• Create statistical & machine learning models and prototypes.
• Communicate results of analysis and experiments.
• Create reporting and data visualization tools.
• Make feature recommendations based on detailed analysis.

• Proficient in using Python for data processing and analysis (experience with SciPy, Pandas is a plus)
• Experience with SQL
• Experience creating data visualizations and doing exploratory data analysis
• Interest in machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) required, experience is a plus
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
• Willingness to perform other duties and special projects as needed
• College degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
