Role and Responsibilities

Operations Data Analyst will provide expertise and guidance for data-driven quality improvement for Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS). The Operations Data Analyst will be the visionary and implementer of a data-driven approach to identifying quality issues, communicating operational data to management, and improving equipment monitoring. Data Analyst will become competent in existing GCS dashboards and systems to provide ownership and recommendations for improvement. Data Analyst will interact with internal teams and on-site contractor teams to develop dashboards and systems to improve GCS operations. Data Analyst will investigate current facility systems and provide recommendations to peer engineers, management, and contracted technicians to embrace a continuous improvement approach.

  • Equipment and systems monitoring, analysis, and reporting including sustaining operations, maintenance, and process & equipment improvements.

  • Data analysis and reporting/dashboard development for Gas and Chemical Systems

  • Summarize and communicate operational data to management team in emails, dashboards, and presentations.

  • Create metrics and KPIs to analyze equipment, labor and operational performance.

  • Support Operations team process monitoring and alarm response.

  • Visionary of GCS data analysis. Lead the GCS team improvement in how we use operational data.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical field

  • 4+ year experience in data analysis and reporting.

  • 3+ years experience using SQL or other querying language. MongoDB experience a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to explain information to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Data visualization skills and ability to summarize complex information and present it in a simple, clear manner.

  • Experience creating and using analytical scripts to perform data analysis (Python, SQL, R)

  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet experience, including macros.

  • Ability to see what is and have a vision and plan for what could be.

  • Experience participating and leading a full project lifecycle, from planning phase to implementation.

  • Experience applying data analysis for the process or industrial manufacturing industry preferred.

  • Experience managing and leading projects involving multiple stakeholders and departments preferred.

  • JMP/Spotfire experience preferred.

  • Fab engineering experience a plus.

  • Front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) experience a plus.

  • Candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills required to interface with stakeholders across the SAS Facilities, Engineering, Contract Gas & Chemical/Gas/Slurry Operations, and Construction organizations.

  • Candidate must be familiar with data analysis related to flow rates, pressures, and consumption trends.

  • Candidate should be able to evaluate existing processes and create dashboards and tools to optimize resources within GCS.

  • Ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required
