The Role

Hours per fortnight - Up to 76 hours

The TasTAFE Virtual Campus (VC) is a digital transformation initiative to position TasTAFE as a leader in hybrid learning to provide dynamic, future focussed training that supports lifelong learning and meets the ongoing workforce and skill needs of business and industry. This transformation project is underpinned by the integrated delivery of supporting systems and the operationalisation of a learner-centric learning model.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary collective, the Data Analyst role will provide data driven insights to guide the iterative prioritisation, prototyping, piloting, and evaluation of Virtual Campus features. As part of the Virtual Campus implementation team, you will assist associated stakeholders to collect and analyse data centred on evaluating the impact of learning design and delivery practices to provide a learner centred experience at TasTAFE. In parallel with data gathering and analysis, you will contribute to the defining and prototyping of Virtual Campus features underpinned by learning analytics.

Through applying your talents in critical thinking and computational analysis, you will play a major role in ensuring that the Virtual Campus implementation is data driven, centring on activities which provide the highest value proposition for supporting learner success at TasTAFE.

An existing TasTAFE employee employed under a copied state instrument, or an employee who has been employed at TasTAFE in the past three months, if successful, would be appointed at the relevant classification and salary in the copied state instrument.

About You

Capabilities required to undertake the role successfully include:

  1. A post-secondary qualification in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or Statistics with subsequent workplace application, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training.

  2. Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets via application of database and model design, cleansing and use of segmentation techniques.

  3. Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis to identify trends and guide problem solving and decision making.

Evidence of meeting the following requirements for the role will need to be provided prior to starting:

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption

The following requirements are desirable:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or Statistics.
  • Experience working in an educational context.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
