In the Senior Staff Data Engineer position, you’ll be responsible for designing and creating data architecture for Senior Healthcare’s largest procurement platform. You will be working with multiple teams focused on developing new software functionality for our web-based eCommerce product, our web-based service offerings, or our server-based transaction processing systems. This role is a senior technical position within our engineering organization.
This position works within our DSSI business.

What You’ll Do and Impact:
Provide architectural direction for multiple project teams, directing the efforts of engineers working on one or multiple concurrent projects, designing solutions to real problems and customers’ experience.
Provide high-level oversight of database implementations as new projects go through the ideation phase.
Collaborate with project managers to estimate and plan execution of projects while balancing technical and business needs, keeping key stakeholders informed on the status of technical deliverables.
Understand system database architecture and the integration of new functionality.
Perform data modeling activities, ensuring systems correctly represent real-world data constructs.
Communicate database architecture and designs to project team members.
Analyze and improve database system performance to implement the best user experience.
Review database designs produced by junior engineers to verify conformity to overall guidelines and give feedback and guidance as needed.
Serve as a technical leader and proponent for good architecture and design within Engineering, and advocate for architecture standards.
Mentor junior engineers to help develop their technical skills and coach through complex problems.
Implement complex database solutions for projects using technologies such as MSSQL, Postgres, and other modern database technologies.
Review database design components produced by other Software Engineers.
Coordinate integration testing and debugging of database components and prepare release plans for database changes into production.
Direct the team through defect analysis and debugging to ensure successful software releases.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
10+ years of data engineering experience
Experience applying proven design principles, code practices, and SDLC concepts to improve customer outcomes
Additional Items of Interest:
Experience developing large, scalable, highly-available web-based software
AWS/Cloud experience
Experience working in Git source control systems
Knowledgeable in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) / Build automation practices
Experience working in an agile (Scrum) methodology
