We are currently looking for talented, numerically minded and enthusiastic graduates to join our Data Science team in the Household Insurance division, based in our global headquarters in Cardiff.
Through a combination of structured and on-the-job training, you will develop a strong knowledge of a broad array of cutting-edge techniques in Data Science. After a fully supported initial training period, you will have a chance to use the latest techniques in Data Science to solve real-life problems.

About You
We are looking for motivated individuals who are keen to learn new skills and expand their knowledge. An inquisitive mind and a strong desire to make an impact using innovative analytic methods are essential. You must have a keen interest in machine learning or statistics and be ready to grow your skills as the field progresses. You should be comfortable in a culture where decision making is evidenced-based and reliant on rigorous analysis.
Whilst we will support you every step of the way, you should be self-motivated and able to work individually. You will also need to work well in a team, share best practice, and be capable of delivering to agreed timelines in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Main Duties
Development, evaluation, and implementation of advanced statistical and machine learning models.
Creation of meaningful datasets for modelling and evaluation from a vast quantity of data in multiple formats.
Remaining up to date with trends and developments in technology and methods in Data Science, proactively researching new skills and methods.
The ability to think reasonably and critically, to question anomalies and to draw conclusions based on evidence.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
An interest using data to understand the world around you, and the ability to communicate that understanding with a non-technical audience.
Demonstrate high attention to detail.
Some experience using data science tools such as R, Matlab, Python, SQL, etc., perhaps during education or from independent study.
Exceptional numerical ability with a desire to solve problems using innovative and creative techniques.
Ability to work in a team but also manage personal workload.
