The role
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand and document their data requirements.
  • Work collaboratively as part of our Data Squad to develop our new architectural principles.
  • Define, map and model the data and data-flows from transactional sources, client data and external data providers.
  • Deploy and maintain data pipelines/assets which enable an increase in delivery speed for analytics and reporting requests and encourage reusability.
  • Perform reconciliation activities for all newly developed assets, checking for completeness and integrity against established processes.
  • Understand, evaluate and adopt new data sources, data engineering practices and techniques.
  • Liaise with other technology teams, internal infrastructure providers and external partners.
  • Work with our Data Scientists to support the development of advanced analytic models and assets.
  • Work with our BI Developers to support the development of business-facing self-service reporting tools.
About you
  • Sound understanding of data modelling/warehousing techniques (entity-relationship and relational modelling, SCD vs. RCD, MDM, multi-layered analytics architectures).
  • Extensive experience using relational databases and analytic tools such as SQL and/or Python, with experience in distributed compute/file system technologies (examples may include Spark, PySpark).
  • Experience implementing role-based access controls (RBAC) and automation for new and existing data pipelines/processes.
  • Strong skills with Jira & Confluence.
  • Appropriate industry experience/qualifications in data engineering/modelling and data analytics.
  • Advanced SQL (Postgres) and Python skills.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code methodologies
  • Deep knowledge of data preparation, transformation and modelling techniques
  • Experience working with technical and business stakeholders to develop data requirements
  • Deep experience in public cloud services and applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Previous work experience with the Databricks platform (highly desirable)
  • Exposure to orchestration frameworks such as Airflow, Prefect, Dagster or other
  • Exposure to analytics engineering framework - such as dbt
  • Previous work experience with Apache Spark / PySpark and the AWS analytics stack
  • Exposure to an analytics re-platform project
  • A good sense of humour
