Randstad are proud to offer the opportunity to be part of an outcome-focused reputed organisation with stable funding arrangements. They are currently recruiting an intermediate Groundwater/Geoscience Data Scientist for an initial 12 month contract period.
The key duties and accountabilities of the successful candidate will include:
- Manipulate and Interrogate large groundwater/geoscientific datasets.
- Develop and apply innovative data analysis techniques to large regional data sets.
- Undertake timeseries analysis, decomposition and signal separation using statistical methods.
- Extract meaningful insights from multidisciplinary datasets.
- Assist various projects with wrangling, processing, visualising and interpreting data.
- Contribute towards and support the technical team in the assessment and management of groundwater impacts of water extraction by the resources industry.
- Prepare technical reports, workflows, documentation and memos.
- Develop and maintain constructive working relationships and networks with clients, stakeholders, and project teams
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Preferably a tertiary qualification in geoscience or computer science; however, an applicant with qualification in other scientific fields or engineering will be considered.
- Desirable experience including:
- Python (pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, matplotlib).
- Familiarity with ML methods.
- A working knowledge of groundwater/geoscience concepts and principles.
- Familiarity with analytical and numerical modelling techniques.
Additionally they will demonstrate strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives of ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
