Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Data Scientist to join the Program Integration Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The successful candidate will create data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization. Requires strong statistical and data visualization skills. We are looking for a passionate Data Scientist to design and develop Extract Transform Load (ETL) pipelines and Data Analytics/Visualization solutions from disparate data sources.

You will share in the ownership of the technical vision and direction for advanced analytics systems that change the way we see and use data. We are looking for people who are self-motivated, hardworking, and have demonstrated the ability to find innovative solutions to complex technical problems. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support, design, develop, and maintain a scalable ETL pipeline
  • Data visualization concepts such as UI/UX design principles and data visualization software
  • Produce, monitor, and improve algorithms that predict and/or prescribe to business leaders
  • Data preparation/cleaning, integration, and automation from heterogeneous sources
  • Ensure data integrity and system availability
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend core technologies and strategies
  • Monitor and optimize system performance
  • Decomposition of user requirements into logical functions/components

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree
  • Experience working with ETL techniques and frameworks
  • Experience working with analytics software tools such as Python or R
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Tableau Visualization Software
  • Experience with data preparation/cleansing
  • Experience with a scripting language, preferably Python
  • Experience with Agile Software Development
  • Experience with version control software such as Git and TortoiseSVN
  • Active DoD Secret clearance granted or re-investigated within last 6 years

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Python, C#, SQL, SSIS, and data visualization tools
  • Experience in responsive UI/UX design
  • Experience with profiling/debugging
  • Experience with web analytics and load testing software (e.g. Matomo)
  • Experience with load testing software (e.g. Locust)
  • Experience with Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence)
  • Active SCI Clearance

Salary Range: $78,300 USD - $117,500 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
