The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

Overview of the Branch and Section:
The Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics Systems (IIBS) Branch works collaboratively with business areas to support the Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics capabilities. IIBS Branch is responsible for the delivery of critical ICT systems capability to business areas undergoing significant growth and change.

IIBS Branch is responsible for:

• Managing the technical delivery of the Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics Program of work
• Providing enterprise level data and business reporting services on behalf of the Department
• Providing ongoing maintenance and support for Intelligence, Identity and Biometrics Systems.

The Intelligence System Section is responsible for developing and supporting Intelligence Systems capabilities that enable the Intelligence Division to deliver its services to the broader Organisation.

The Section also undertakes the following activities:

• Works with key stakeholders towards the establishment of intelligence led and risk based layered capabilities
• Contributes to earlier and better informed responses to all border threats across the border continuum
• Delivers the enhancement of the ‘advanced analytics capability’ to enable faster and complex analysis of large volume data to better support the operational intelligence of the Organisation (including identification and treatment of passenger and cargo border risks across Australia).

Our ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have the skills for extending and sustaining the integration and maintenance of various Analytical models and supporting the infrastructure. The candidate will have a good understanding of Analytics application integration, Analytics modelling techniques, Systems analysis, Solution design, Solution development and an in-depth understanding of business usage patterns for the capability. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and have the appropriate skills to build productive stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes. The candidate should have the ability to work in an agile team environment.

Specific duties/responsibilities:

• Responsible for the end to end integration of developed analytics models and validating them against test data
• Actively resolve problems, identify solutions, plan schedules, deliver outcomes within set timeframes and support the capability
• Ability in using Confluence, JIRA including working in Agile environment
• Delivery of project milestones and work with the team to create standard operating procedures (SOPs) to govern the delivery of Advanced Analytics Capability (AAC)
• Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems
• Build effective communication networks with a wide range of stakeholders, and work collaboratively with multiple teams and business areas
• Have the personal attributes to work in a team environment comprising of technical and Business As Usual (BAU) support members
• Be prepared to work out of business hours for change activities, this includes nights and/or weekends as required.

Role requirements/qualifications:
The candidate is to demonstrate experience in/with two or more of the following tools:

• Microsoft Machine Learning Server (MMLS)
• Alteryx Designer and Server
• Python
• Microsoft SQL Server
• R Programming language
• SQL, Teradata EDW
• Window Server
• Powershell
• Data Modelling.

Have 2 + years’ experience in designing, implementing, model integrations and troubleshooting systems.
