At our European Innovation Center (EIC) in Hørsholm, you will step into a multicultural environment with approx. 130 colleagues with 27 different nationalities. At EIC, we manage everything from IT, procurement and HR to logistics, planning, registration, marketing, sales and distribution. Besides those vital functions our site is focused on research and development, and we have recently become the Global Plant Health Center for FMC.
FMC is looking for a highly-motivated individual to work in the Plant Health organization as a member of the Mode of Action (MoA) team at the European Innovation Center, Hørsholm, Denmark. Working in a dynamic and interdisciplinary team environment within plant health product discovery, development, and launch, the successful candidate will form close partnerships with other scientists in the global organization, communicating results and placing them into context.
Position responsibilities:
The person suitable for this position will be responsible for analyses of microbial genomic, transcriptomics, and metabolite profile data and for extraction of most relevant knowledge from these data for supporting early discovery activities and product characterizations for market positioning and launch. Development of work stream for analysis of microbiomes in agricultural contexts is also envisaged. This position requires an ability to implement relevant bioinformatics and data analysis/management tools and to develop a streamlined bioinformatics and data management process which can integrate diverse data inputs. Experiences in machine learning and cloud-based data management system are highly preferred.
As a bioinformatician/data scientist, you will closely work with your colleagues in R&D (discovery, analytics, fermentation) and marketing teams in global regions (EMEA, NAC, LATAM, APAC), thus fluency in English, both writing and speaking, is a must. You are a good listener who understands the needs of your colleagues and a skilled data scientist who can translate the needs to bioinformatic/data analytic workflow. Importantly, you are good at communicating technical results to non-specialists. Moreover, you enjoy training other R&D scientists for bioinformatics analyses.
Your tasks include:
The ideal candidate should have solid experiences in microbial bioinformatics and good understanding of a secondary metabolite biosynthesis. In addition, molecular biology laboratory experience, e.g. extraction of environmental DNA and RNA and performing qPCR is preferred.
