As a Principal Data Analyst, you will coordinate the analysis, design, and data modelling techniques to establish and maintain data structures across enterprise data platforms. You will define data management structures and metadata, ensuring consistency and facilitating efficient information retrieval and analysis throughout the department. Your responsibilities will also include developing Power BI reports, leading business intelligence processes, and ensuring strong governance practices.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the analysis, design, and data modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components for the enterprise data platforms. Set data modelling standards, tools and techniques ensuring data modelling compliance.
• Define data management structures and metadata to support consistency of information retrieval, combination, analysis, pattern recognition and interpretation, throughout the department.
• Establish the purpose, parameters and guidelines for data visualisation/reports providing overall control and governance in the appropriate use of data visualisation tools, techniques, and practices.
• Develop Power BI reports and data models on behalf of clients with low data reporting capability and provide actionable business intelligence advice for operational efficiency and strategic decision making.
• Lead the establishment of business intelligence processes ensuring robustness, efficiency and strong governance practices, focusing on automation, key controls and data quality.
• Provide advise on available standards, procedures, methods, tools and techniques for data analysis functions across the department.
• Through business consultation and collaboration gather requirements and identifying enterprise data needs, define and implement enterprise data analysis solutions as required. (SFIA: CNSL 5)
• Create and maintain simple data pipelines to connect data within and between data stores, applications, and departments within the enterprise data platforms. (SFIA: DENG 4)
• Establish and drive appropriate and ethical data practices across the departments through continuous stakeholder engagement across varying hierarchical levels.
• Remain up to date with industry trends and technologies, evaluate benefits of adopting into the department, implement and drive adoption.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to data security, access controls and data privacy compliance/regulations. Collaborate with Security teams to implement controls, maintaining a high, compliant security posture.
  
  

Technical Skills, Abilities, And Cultural Capability

• Demonstrated experience establishing a set of data analysis frameworks, standards and guidelines and implementing as an organisational service.
• Proven ability to translate data into actionable insights for operational and strategic stakeholders.
• Proven ability to translate functional and non-functional requirements into actionable data development deliverables.
• Experience in managing stakeholder relationships across a diverse landscape.
• Demonstrated technical experience with modern data toolsets such as Power BI, SQL, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric.
• Demonstrated experience working with modern data management strategies and modelling such as Data Mesh.
