The role of the Insurance Data Scientist / Actuarial Data Scientist aims to offer new services, products and solutions through data analytics. In this role you will collaborate closely with our clients, underwriters, client managers, the IT department, and other experts in Singapore and other offices in Mumbai, Seoul, Tokyo, Munich, Beijing, Sydney, and Princeton.
You will work with our team and clients to identify, develop and deliver data analytics solutions to improve their business. These improvements include business growth, stronger profitability, reduced fraud and process efficiency. You will also help clients to become data-driven organisations.
You will have the full spectrum of data analytics exposure, being involved in the end-to-end application of data analytics including scoping, delivery, client engagement, deployment, impact assessment and other follow-up reviews.
You will apply practical and advanced data analytics techniques in your daily work to address real world business problems. Depending on resourcing and demand, you may also support other sophisticated offerings such as involving deep learning and image recognition.
As part of your work, you will be directly communicating your data analytics insights and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will also be developing strong business acumen as part of your role.
You will be part of a truly global team, comprising of data scientists, actuaries, product developers and business technology, with daily interactions with Singapore and Munich colleagues and experts.

At least a Bachelor’s (preferably Master’s) in statistics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, operations research, computer science, or a comparable discipline
Sound knowledge of the insurance industry, including practical hands-on data analytics experience (2-5 years)
Very good theoretical and practical knowledge of traditional ML methods and in-depth experience in relevant tools/languages such as Python / R. In addition DL knowledge is a plus.
Confident in SQL queries
Other experiences such as the following will be a plus (but not necessary):
Experience with data engineering, pipelines and cloud architecture
Experience in Azure Cloud technologies and API Management
Experience with big data platforms (Cloudera / Hortonworks, MapR, or Pivotal)
Experience / understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices
