Clinical Data Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting multiple, strategic, complex, cross-boundary projects, services and associated deliverables related to data analysis activities in support of the Quality Assessment and Analytics team objectives. Act as a senior internal consultant in the identification, implementation, and/or development of clinical, quality, and financial analytical models to demonstrate value and/or increase the value of services provided by department. Functions as a strategic and tactical resource.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent in healthcare related, business or technical discipline; Master of Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred but not required.

REPORTS TO: Associate Vice President, Quality and Safety

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred; Black Belt (BB) certification preferred; RN or other clinical certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates ability working with healthcare data systems, understanding of clinical operational measures, including experience with EHR and data (Epic/Clarity ideally).
  • Demonstrates leadership in the areas of continuous quality improvement, institutional support/representation, and customer service. Develops reports, materials, and presentations for the support of the assigned project areas. Assists in the coordination of quality and continuous improvement projects. Supports processes to integrate quality throughout the WFBH system. Ad hoc reporting as requested. Ability to facilitate delivery of compile report processes.
  • Perform statistical data analyses, as well as, validate the accuracy, consistency and integrity of the statistical output.
  • Aide in the development and implementation of new statistical and data management methodologies to improve current/future decision making and medical center processes. Aides in the statistical/data management related regulatory requirements and practices.
  • Provide statistical and data management input into protocol development. Write Statistical Analysis Plans for assigned projects and oversee the development of Data Management Plans (DMPs) for assigned projects.
  • Provide statistical and programming input into database design for assigned projects, and oversee efforts in development, validation and testing of databases.
  • Oversee data management activities for assigned projects. Serve as primary contact between clinical leadership and Quality Assessment and Analytics department in data related issues.
  • Perform review for clinical study protocols and statistical/data management documents generated by others.
  • Lead assigned projects by applying project management skills, statistical and data management techniques to facilitate better decision making, improve business operations and discover, improve, develop new methods of data dissemination.
  • Plan, develop and monitor timelines for statistical and data management activities in accordance with clinical activities for assigned projects.
  • Experience with creation of scorecards and dashboards that meet customer’s expectations. Provide customer support for design. Test output and usability of design. Analyzes the effectiveness of design and make appropriate enhancements as necessary.
  • Performs routine and ad-hoc reporting to evaluate performance and to identify opportunities for process improvements. Manages one or more complex data projects. Utilizes hospital systems and database applications to update and analyze data.
  • Designs and develops reporting and analysis tools. Interprets data and refines analysis. Prepares and presents
    comprehensive reports. Develops forms, tables and other data tools in the applications that capture, report and
    consolidate data. Provides application data collection, analytics and reporting expertise. Completes analytics in a
    timely and efficient manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
