Job Description
SilviaTerra is built on terabytes of geospatial data, and we're rapidly expanding to integrate new types and structure of data into our work. Our Basemap dataset is our flagship data product. The Biometrics team at SilviaTerra is responsible for developing, improving, and extending this dataset. This role is an integral part of that work, working closely with the rest of the team to integrate new sources and types of measurements.

This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing a process for understanding, exploring, and cleaning large field measurements datasets
  • Automating the process of integrating large field measurements datasets
  • Documenting data and metadata
  • Developing, streamlining, and automating pipelines for working with ecological datasets
  • Building toolchains for modeling and analysis

Required Skills & Experience

  • Building and maintaining R packages
  • Experience working with large csv/json datasets in R/Python

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Familiarity with forest inventory, management, and ecology
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Experience with geospatial and remote sensing analyses using open-source software (QGIS, R and Python packages)
  • Comfortable working remotely with necessary travel for company meetings
