The Sr. Data Analyst analyzes business intelligence data and provides reports. Acts as liaison between Silvergate Bank business units. Ensures data accuracy. Responsible for creating ad hoc and recurring reports and analysis that combine financial, operational, and organizational data. The incumbent must develop mastery of data sources in our enterprise data warehouse. Successful performance is demonstrated by accuracy, thoughtfulness, presentation of work deliverables, adhering to timelines, working effectively as a member of the Silvergate Bank IT team, and dependability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for data quality
  • Responsible for building solutions to monitoring data quality through automated scripts, apps and/or management reports
  • Responsible for leveraging statistical methods for analyzing large data sets.
  • Responsible for designing forms tables, graphs, and charts to for summarizing information and presenting to others, including technical documents and presentations
  • Assist in developing and maintaining data quality standards
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Maintain current knowledge of all federal and state laws and regulations, along with the Bank’s policies and procedures
  • Not to harm consumers with any act that could be misleading, unfair, deceptive, or abusive in act or practice

DECISION MAKING

  • Participate in the development of the reporting roadmap as means to ensure the organization has the proper reporting software and infrastructure

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science or related field and at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Knowledge of database design, SQL, data warehousing and IBM Cognos BI
  • Functional experience with BI tool architectures, functions, and features.
  • Functional experience using SQL and relational and multidimensional database designs.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong functional experience.
  • Problem Solving
  • Strong data reconciliation skills

BANK SECRECY ACT REQUIREMENTS

Responsible for adhering to the reporting and recordkeeping requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering rules and regulations, observing economic sanctions by prohibiting transactions as specified by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), following the Company’s customer identification program (CIP) rules, observing all Company policies and procedures relating to BSA, OFAC, CIP, and related acts, and participation in ongoing related training.
