Data Engineer, Analytics (Remote OK)

Job description

Red Bull Media House is hiring a contract Data Engineer to lead the unification of analytics instrumentation across our wide array of client applications. You will be working alongside our in-house global engineering team as part of our award-winning Digital Products team.


In this role, you will develop data requirements and acceptance criteria for new customer-facing products and features. You will have the opportunity to drive our A/B testing strategy and will be positioned to oversee a growing and complex ecosystem of apps across dozens of device platforms.


The ideal candidate has significant experience managing the instrumentation of digital analytics tools or digital measurement tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or similar, and an expert understanding of how data is structured and captured from web to native applications.


Responsibilities

  • Work with client developers to understand events that should be instrumented with analytics logging.
  • Work closely with Product Management and Engineering Teams to ensure proper tracking and instrumentation of new product initiatives and features.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure optimal schema, balancing privacy, storage, and retrieval across different applications
  • Write product documentation for engineers to implement
  • You will be the primary point of contact for leadership stakeholders in the product, engineering, ads & research organizations as the team translates business requirements into technical specifications and supports cross-functional teams through the implementation and validation process
  • You will continually drive the unification of the data collection strategy across product portfolios and the way in which the team engages with stakeholders globally
  • You will be the relationship lead with our external 3rd party measurement partners (Google Analytics, Segment, Conviva, etc) and ensure the consistent health and validation of their implementations within our products
  • You will need to creatively resolve blockers, manage stakeholders, and balance multiple competing priorities to find optimal solutions to technical challenges


Experience

  • 2+ years’ technical experience implementing digital analytics, product quality of service, or ad/mar tech tools in an agile environment
  • 4+ years working in tech or related experience with data capture or analysis
  • Understanding of the digital landscape and how to capture and structure user engagement, product performance, and quality of service data for use in downstream analytics or marketing tools
  • Strong technical aptitude for digital analytics and tag management tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment, Ensighten, mParticle, etc.
  • Proven ability and level of comfort conversing intelligently with engineering leads, product executives, and researchers
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics 360 and its BigQuery export schema
  • Basic knowledge of SQL

Employment Details

  • This is currently an hourly temporary contract role with an 18-month limit
  • 401K and healthcare available after initial onboarding period
  • Must be located in the US, but remote is OK
  • This role staffs as W-2 through our staffing agency partner, no corp-to-corp
  • Rate negotiable based on experience
