Would you like to work in aerospace engineering? We currently have vacancies for Data Engineers to join the Fast Jet Support organisation working within the Data Services team to deliver data engineering and reporting services on our Hawk UK and Qatar support contracts.

As a Data Engineer, you will be working within a growing team of data engineers to develop data engineering capabilities including models, reports and dashboards helping us to optimise products and services to our customers. The team is dedicated to reducing cost and improving performance through the deployment of innovative data solutions which will enable individuals to develop their knowledge and skills.

This role would be an excellent opportunity for data engineers looking to use engineering data to solve problems and find patterns. You will be working on a high profile, visible project at an early stage, therefore this is a great opportunity to put your own stamp on a project. Potential to progress into data science.

Your main responsibilities as a DATA ENGINEER will involve:

• Provide a data engineering service to all our stakeholders including our data scientists

• Design, build and support data models, data queries and datasets to support reports, dashboards, analytics use cases, and a self-service community of subject matter experts.

• Design, build and support bespoke data extract, transform and load (ETL) packages to enable source system data to be joined, transformed and loaded to reporting databases.

• Design, build and support reports and dashboards required by our stakeholders

• Design, build and support Sharepoint solutions including access controls

• Ensure all solutions are maintained under our configuration control and change management governance processes

• Collaborate with data scientists and data analysts on key project deliverables

• Communicate opportunities for continual improvement of the data service and deliverables

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

• Relevant qualifications and experience in an engineering or computer science discipline

• Effectively manage a data engineering project from concept to disposal, strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision is required in this role.

• STEM qualification

Desirable:

• Experience of the military aircraft operating domain is an advantage

• Good knowledge and experience of working with relational databases, authoring concise SQL queries, creating tables, views and stored procedures

• Experience of business intelligence tools such as SSIS, SSRS, PowerBI or Tableau is desirable, but training can be provided

• Experience of ESS, IMS and other major BAES business toolsets

You will have strong communication skills. You should be proactive individual and able to work with minimal supervision.

Location: Warton based, hybrid working

Salary: £34,744 - £46,028
