Job Summary:


The IT Data Analyst is responsible for creating an ecosystem in which data sources from different programs and departments are integrated to build a robust business intelligence platform. This person must have strong technical skills to be able to extract data from primary sources, build automated data transfer processes, and build environments that are easily accessible and facilitate decision-making throughout the agency.


Essential Job Duties


  • Develop a thorough understanding of the various data sources throughout the agency and how they relate to workflow and business processes.
  • Document data structures, workflows, and processes.
  • Using scripting languages (such as SQL) as well automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources.
  • Design and build data structures to facilitate interoperability of data between programs and systems.
  • Working with program leaders and department heads to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies.
  • Working with outside consultants and vendors as the primary point of contact for projects or ongoing work.
  • Removing corrupted data and fixing coding errors and related problems.
  • Developing and maintaining databases, data systems – reorganizing data in a readable format
  • Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data
  • Filter data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to identify and correct code problems
  • Using statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction
  • Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data
  • Build data warehouses, dashboards, and other reporting tools for executive leadership and senior leadership to measure outcomes, assess progress, and make strategic decisions.

Minimum Education / Experience Required


  • Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years in Information Technology


OR


  • Associate Degree and 8 years in Information Technology


License/Registration/ Certifications Required


  • Vendor IT Certification preferred (Microsoft, AWS, Google, IBM)
  • CompTIA Data Analytics Plus preferred
  • Cloudera Certification preferred


Physical Requirements


  • The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions
  • The constant physical demands of the position are sitting, standing and walking.
  • The frequent physical demands of the position are talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • The occasional physical demands of the position are climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.


Salary Range


$65,000 - $85,000/annually based on years of applicable experience.
