This role leads a team of Data Science professionals to transform and drive an increasingly data-driven focus into the everyday execution of Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk Management (CCOR) program. The role will leverage CCOR's (Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk) deep expertise in risk management and related data to gain insights into the Firms Compliance and Operational risks. Partners and influences senior stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes. This will include working with business units to elicit and decompose business practices in the alignment to outcomes achieved through technology and its use, curating and navigating large data sets, experience in technology development and/or technology infrastructure, program execution with commercial outcomes including process automation, risk identification, risk remediation and risk monitoring across all lines of business and functions globally. The position reports to the CCOR Head of digitalization.

Business outcomes:

  • Optimizing the organization's deep risk management expertise through automation and digitalization of practices to deliver a business outcome and derive insights gained from analyzing internal and external data.
  • The integration of business practices with the practical use of technology; and the application artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to large data sets to identify potential and noncongruent risks or evaluate existing risks across all lines of business and functions globally.
  • Use of a variety of data mining/data analysis methods with a variety of data tools, to build and implement solutions. Drive business results with data-derived insights.
  • Responsible for the design and execution of the CCOR risk management program, which consists of the second line of defense's responsibilities in managing the firm's Compliance, Conduct, and Operational Risk

Role/key responsibilities:
  • Interface directly with Chief Compliance and Operational Risk Executives and Technology to establish productive partnerships in order to execute analytical projects that deliver insights that directly impact business outcomes i.e. regulatory, operational, conduct, customer experience, etc.
  • Develop a digital transformation and transition strategy factoring in the overall Data Science, automation and data analytics approaches currently underway and incorporating the vast amounts of data available across all CCOR functions globally
  • Responsible for overseeing the data scientists team, machine learning engineers, and big data specialists
  • Teach, lead, and counsel colleagues on new techniques or solutions
  • Lead data mining and collection procedures
  • Collaborate with data and software engineers to enable deployment of sciences and technologies that will scale across the company's ecosystem
  • Responsible for the conception, planning, and prioritizing of data projects
  • Spot and evaluate emerging/cutting edge, open source, data science/machine learning libraries/big data platforms (e.g. XGBoost, H2Oai, Spark, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Interpret and analyze data problems and guarantee data quality and integrity
  • Responsible for building analytic systems and predictive models as well as experimenting with new models and techniques
  • Ensure that data projects align with CCOR organizational goals
  • Utilize data visualization tools to deliver insights to stakeholders

Key skills/experience/qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, physical sciences or other quantitative discipline
  • Generally, 10+ years of related experience
  • Experience of Finance, Banking, Insurance or similar businesses a strong plus
  • Professional experience in digital transformations to include business modelling, enterprise design thinking, data science, data and statistical analytics or data modeling with a robust technical background
  • Customer-centric experience working across large homogeneous financial organizations and financial disciplines
  • Experience with business product development modeling, customer development frameworks with an understanding of the alignment of business and/or operating model canvasing
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering technology and digital transitioning using sustainable technology tools and processes.
  • Experience in acquiring requirements for AI-driven solutions and implementing related solutions leveraging design thinking for AI techniques
  • Desire to use modern technologies as a disruptive influence within the Finance domain
  • Process- and controls-oriented leader, maintains a strong system of internal governance and controls. Must appreciate and have a thorough understanding of the controls environment
  • A self-directed executive, who can manage multiple senior stakeholders and tasks simultaneously
  • Strong influencing skills, proven cross-organizational leadership, with strong communication skills
