About The Opportunity


Under the general direction of the Professor Auroop Ganguly, this candidate will provide research and have a deep knowledge of machine learning and spatio-temporal data mining. The Senior Research Data Analyst will possess deep knowledge in one or more areas of data management, data manipulation and analysis, and/or data visualization, and will be skilled at applying these concepts and techniques to the research agendas of faculty, staff, and students. The Senior Research Data Analyst will serve as a focal point for data-related activities at the University, bringing the diverse community together for discussion and collaboration.


Responsibilities


  • Assist the project P.I. in completing various research tasks and project reports, developing proposals, and meeting technical requirements and deadlines.
  • Disseminate research results to stakeholders, at national/international conferences and eer-reviewed journal papers.
  • The candidate will be expected to develop new algorithms, produce software and data products, extract new insights from the problems of interest, translate the methods and findings to other products including software.
  • Must be able to adapt existing machine learning and data mining methods and where needed develop new methods for remote sensing from satellite data with broad application.


Qualifications


  • Master’s Degree, at a minimum, preferably in the computer science field
  • Research Experience primarily using existing theories and methods.
  • Able to work in fast paced, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated problem solving in transportation and remote sensing in areas of crop mapping and emergency management.
