Job description

Experienced Data Scientist

Join our community of specialists and take part in the journey of restoring brain health

At Lundbeck’s RnD Data Science we are looking for a new colleague to help us drive Knowledge Graphs and Natural Language Processing. If you are experienced in NLP, if working with graphs feels more natural than working with numbers, if you are determined, proactive, and motivated in restoring brain health so every person can be their best then we have a lucrative job offer for you!

The Biometrics Division

Data Science is part of Biometrics, the division responsible for handling and analyzing data across the drug development value chains. The division consists of 5 departments: Data Science, Digital Solutions, Data Management, Biostatistics, and Statistical Programming. In total we are more than 70 people.

Data Science currently employs 8 highly skilled colleagues. The primary responsibility of the department is to contribute in Lundbeck’s R&D projects. Our target is to improve portfolio decision making, enhance clinical trials, and reduce the risk for research and development by increased trust in data-driven insights.

Our work is focused on the life cycle of data operations (DataOps) and machine learning operations (MLOps). We rely on Data Engineering, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing for delivering trustworthy data-driven insights that can enhance decision making.

Your job and key responsibilities

As our new Data Scientist, you will be the driver of our Knowledge Graphs and Natural Language Processing projects. Part of your new role is to develop algorithms for extracting and generating new knowledge out of graphs. Additionally, you are expected to establish or develop industrialized solutions for NLP pipelines. Role responsibilities include:

You will have to:

  • Identify the different types of relevant data needed for answering RnD questions.
  • Train DL/NLP models and demonstrate the value of data-driven insights for advancing scientific and/or business processes.
  • Execute projects that contribute to novel target or biomarker discovery and enhance clinical trials.
  • Create data visualizations that communicate a clear message to both researchers and decision makers.
  • Automate the process of literature review via ontology-driven and contextual search.
  • Mine information out of medical documents, including EHR, RWE, medical notes, and prescriptions.
  • Design and execute proof of concept (PoC) projects using cutting edge technologies to validate methods that haven’t been trusted yet.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary Lundbeck’s RnD teams and contribute to project design with a forward-thinking focus on DL/NLP methods that can reduce the risk of development.
  • Identify challenges at project design phase and communicate efficient solutions to Lundbeck’s stakeholders.
  • As an expert in your field, provide guidance to your colleagues and keep our organization updated on the latest scientific and applied developments.
  • Work in a regulated area involving patient data. You must appreciate the restrictions this imposes as well as the impact of analyses on major decisions in drug-development projects and budgets.

We offer

Lundbeck’s passion links to our purpose about restoring brain health, so every person can be their best. We strive to make a real difference to patients.
