The Role
The Senior Data Analyst will work across both PICS and CHA to provide data analytics expertise to a broad range of service improvement initiatives. The role will work 3 days per week with PICS and 2 days with CHA, giving the successful applicant the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge across a broad range of services.
For PICS, this includes projects to help define the state-wide delivery of children’s cancer care. The PICS Senior Data Analyst will support efforts to increase data capability within our team and networks, and will use local and state-wide datasets to extract, analyse, and translate data using visualisation dashboards, for key internal and external stakeholders, in line with the VICS Data and Information Management Framework.
At the Centre for Health Analytics, the Senior Data Analyst will support and guide efforts at clinical data extraction, data transformation and standardisation, and collaborate with clinical and research subject matter experts to implement methods for increased data accessibility for analysis.
The Successful Applicant Will Have Extensive Experience In Data Analysis And Data Transformation, Ideally In The Healthcare Industry Utilising Reporting Tools Such As
- Microsoft SSIS
- SSRS
- Power BI
The position is based at The Royal Children’s Hospital, in the PICS role may be asked to attend other sites including Monash Children’s Hospital or Department of Health offices.

PICS is a collaboration between The Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Children’s Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The collective aim is to improve the planning and delivery of care for children and adolescents with cancer with the focus being to deliver the best quality care in the best facility as close to home as possible. The Centre for Health Analytics is an exciting collaborative venture for the Melbourne Children’s Campus partners – The Royal Children’s Hospital, The Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and the University of Melbourne. The Centre has been created to support the vision of Melbourne Children’s to become an internationally leading paediatric campus in the use of data to improve all aspects of patient care, operations, education, and research. The Centre has received generous financial support from The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation and the University of Melbourne has funded a foundation position of Professor of Child Health Informatics who works closely with the Centre.
