Under the supervision of the Director of IT and Data Systems, the Data Analyst 3 has primary responsibility for the development and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and databases to inform continuous quality improvement, fundraising, and program evaluation. The Data Analyst 3 will work across a wide range of data sources including electronic health records, fundraising CRMs, payroll systems, and client record systems hosted by our state and county partners. This role will work closely with multiple stakeholders and will be instrumental in fostering the effective and ethical use of data within the agency. The reports and dashboards produced by the Data Analyst 3 will support services delivered by A Better Ways mental health, foster/adoption, training, and social service programs in 6 California counties.

The duties of this position may be performed remotely by candidates residing permanently in California.

Familiarity with public health, mental health required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Utilize SQL and BI tools to develop and maintain periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) and ad hoc reports and dashboards.
• Translate the reporting needs of non-technical users into accurate, reliable data products.
• Perform Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) jobs on data sets from a wide variety of sources including APIs, servers, web locations, and manual pulls from legacy systems.
• Create and implement processes to ensure accuracy and accessibility of data while upholding HIPAA/FERPA compliance and document retention standards .
• Work collaboratively with IT, Quality Assurance, Development, Finance, Program Directors and Executive Leadership to improve tracking of program interventions and client outcomes.
• Support the development of data pipelines for fundraising, grantwriting, and development efforts.
• Manage and coordinate complex, time-sensitive data projects, maintain issue logs, respond to support tickets in a timely manner.
• Conduct trainings on data reporting tools for staff .
• Create process documentation such as user guides, flow charts, training materials, etc.
• Work with external partners (county liaisons, consultants, vendors) to ensure the flow of needed information and support data system integrations.
• Analyze business processes to support selection or development of new data systems

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or 3+ years experience in related data management/analysis required.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL (Window Functions, Common Table Expressions, Subqueries) and skill with at least 1 scripting language (preferably Python, R, or PowerShell)
• Expertise with Microsoft Office applications and Office 365, with advanced skills in Excel (Pivot Tables, Power Query)
• Demonstrated experience with deriving insights from complex datasets using reporting and visualization tools such as Sisense, Power BI or Tableau
• Working knowledge of basic statistical/research concepts and data visualization best practices
• Ability to develop and implement procedures for ensuring data security and integrity
• Ability to manage productivity and priorities while working both independently and collaboratively
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, strong customer service ethic
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software (Salesforce) is a plus
• Ability to pass various background checks needed to work in an agency that works with children

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Position eligible for remote work.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work (PST) are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel

• Local travel to various worksites is required.
