This is a remote position for a candidate located in PST.
The Staff Data Engineer is a hands-on role that will lead the data engineering area of expertise within our Data Analytics team. Our Data Analytics team builds data collection, access and analytics capabilities to uncover customer, product, and operational insights by connecting disparate data silos. You are motivated to continuously improve the scalability and automation of our data analytics strategy. You are an engineer with a strategic and methodical approach to developing elegant solutions to complex problems. You are a lifelong learner who is fueled by the use and implementation of cutting-edge technologies. You are a skilled communicator with a proven ability to employ good software engineering practices.
Your key responsibilities
Gains understanding of GenMark’s technology and data structures
Takes ownership of our data architecture maintenance and design
Builds scalable and reliable data ingestion pipelines
Manage and supervise manufacturing data collection and digitization
Maintains and develops our cloud data warehouse
Interacts cross-functionally to expand access to data for various stakeholders
Manages and continuously improve data automations
Improves monitoring and observability of the data platform with the goal of high data quality
Supports algorithm and model development
Enable ML model production deployment
Empower deployment of analytics and data visualizations
Communicate solutions and impact of the data engineering discipline to stakeholders and other teams
Who you are
BS 8+ years, MS 6+ years, PhD 4+ years
Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science
Mastery of a coding language, especially Python
Deep understanding of object-oriented programming
Previous exposure architecting and executing distributed systems (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience with managing cloud resources (Snowflake, GCP, AWS) Experience automating infrastructure with monitoring, logging, and alerting (Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana)
Hands-on experience with large, heterogeneous data structures and technologies (SQL, NoSQL, unstructured)
Strong history of improving system reliability and reproducibility by creating observability
Experience improving data access and usability for data analysts and self-service analytics
Strong experience with reliability building, testing and deploying software (GitHub, Jenkins)
