About Railsr

Railsr is an embedded finance experience platform that enables businesses to prototype, build and scale financial products. With 120 live clients across the UK & EU and end-users in the millions, Railsr is driving a digitally-native Banking and Cards as a Service platform in the FinTech space. In the past 12 months we have completed a Series C funding round, before our recent acquisition led by D Squared Capital, with the new ownership committed to enhancing and developing our product capabilities.

The Opportunity

As Railsr consolidates following its recent acquisition, we are expanding our Software Development team in London. Reporting into one of our Technical Team Leads, this position will be a key part of our Banking, Cards or Fincrime product teams as we look to grow the business, optimise the platform and provide new functionality to our customers.


  • Data Infrastructure Design and Development: Designing and developing robust data infrastructure and systems to facilitate efficient data processing and storage.
  • Data Governance and Security: Ensuring data quality, implementing data protection measures, and enforcing compliance with regulatory standards to maintain data integrity and security.
  • Collaboration and Cross-Functional Communication: Collaborating with diverse teams and effectively communicating technical solutions to align data engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Performance Optimization and Scalability: Optimising data processing and storage mechanisms to enhance system performance and scalability, leveraging techniques like distributed computing and parallel processing.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentoring: Providing technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members, sharing best practices and staying updated with emerging technologies for continuous improvement within the data engineering domain.

  • Rework and automate Data ingestion pipelines
  • Optimise and make cost effective Data Platform
  • Maintain existing Data flows

Our expectations

  • You worked on backend systems for 4+ years and have had exposure to distributed systems.
  • You write testable, decoupled, efficient OOD code (in Java, C# or Python).
  • You have a proven track record running and scaling services on a public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • You have built data pipelines from source applications to the Datalake.
  • You are familiar and worked with technologies such as Apache Kafka, ETL and scheduling tools as Apache Airflow, Databricks, Dbt etc and Big Data warehouses (Snowflake is benefit)
  • You have experience with many of the following: CI/CD pipelines, immutable infrastructure, containers and serverless architectures.
  • You work and adapt in rapidly changing startup environments.

Our Data Platform stack

  • Code - C#, Python.
  • Infrastructure - AWS IaC with Terraform, some of it unfortunately still set up manually.
  • Datalake - Snowflake.
  • Data distribution - Apache Kafka.
  • ETL tools: Fivetran, Databricks, DBT, Apache Airflow.
  • Monitoring & Alerting - ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, PagerDuty.
