IT Concepts is looking for an experienced Sr. Data Scientist to support our Kessel Run customer
The Role: Our customer is looking to improve the ingestion and exploitation of data for Air and Wing Operations by deploying innovative technologies to filter, analyze and categorize data. With the large amounts of data available today on multiple networks we aim to improve production of intelligence using different data sources to provide complete and comprehensive records. The software stack will include components for data scientists, developers and analysts. The technology stack includes AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, Java, Kotlin, React, Git, Apache Airflow, Elasticsearch, Jupyter Notebook, service architectures, REST API development, Kafka/Rabbit eventing.
What will you be doing?:
- Work in helping to develop the requirements for a modern web and API based system to replace a legacy system by integrating several existing data sources and providing data science, data engineering, and general technical subject matter expertise.
- Collaborate with internal customers and stakeholders to devise possible solutions and communicate requirements for data ingest, data standards, and data sharing environments by participating in the Discovery and Finding in a UCD process.
- Support synergizing data solutions with IT requirements management products for new initiatives to include data analysis and modeling
- Building solutions to give time back to operations teams by performing analytics and giving them more relevant and accurate data from the various data sources they may use to enhance mission operations.
- Research and develop categorization, correlation, and regression models for data analysis, ingest and data discovery
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technology trends, communicating results and ideas to key decision makers
- Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis
Requirements
You meet our “must haves” if:
- You have
- PhD or MS/MA; 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience implementing and building event driven architectures
- High proficiency in SQL to include schema design, data definition, and advanced queries
- Experience with data warehouses
- Experience with data indexing tools such as Elasticsearch
- Experience with scripting languages for automating repetitive tasks
- Experience with creating automated data pipelines for complex systems
- Linux server management background
- Can prototype visualizations with lightweight data visualization suites
- At least 2 years of experience developing in languages commonly used for data analysis such as Python
- Experience working with multiple database types such as SQL (Postgres/MySQL) and MongoDB
- Experience building and integrating the at the application and database level
- Experience developing REST/SOAP APIs and messaging protocols and formats, Google Protobuf understanding a plus
- At least 2 years of theoretical and practical background in statistical analysis, machine learning, predictive modeling, and/or optimization
- Experience integrating or implementing event/data streaming services such as Kafka/RabbitMQ

- Experience prototyping front-end visualizations utilizing data visualization suites such as Kibana or Grafana
- Experience with ETL and Workflow products such as Apache Airflow
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and nontechnical audiences
Clearance requirements:
- Must have an active Secret clearance
- Will need to be located close to Washington, DC (Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling), Boston, MA (Hanscom AFB), or Hampton, VA (Langley AFB) to access the controlled areas on a weekly basis.
