WIN Waste Innovations is a vertically integrated business with a platform of 50 strategically located collection, transfer, and disposal assets. These include waste-to-energy facilities, transfer stations, ash monofills, landfills, and fleets of rail cars and collection vehicles. We process more than 11 million tons of waste annually, converting 6.7 million tons of waste into clean, renewable energy that powers 340,000 homes. We recycle more than 234,000 tons of plastic, paper, and metals from the waste stream.

WIN-Waste Innovations is looking for an Associate Data Engineer to join our growing team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, the jobholder will:

  • Build and integrate data models and processes to meet the company's needs.
  • Support existing data processes and functionality in partnership with Senior Data Engineers
  • Maintain and enhance operationally critical processes and technology
  • Clearly communicate technical details to business and management staff
  • Assess the business impact of technical options and alternatives and make recommendations and decisions around technology and integration platforms; accounting for productivity, usability and total cost of ownership.
  • Analyze business requirements, propose technical designs, and create prototypes as needed.
  • Assess the data architecture and data processes currently in place and work with technical team to recommend solutions to improve it.
  • Responsible for design methodology and project documentation.
  • Continually research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where needed.
  • Inform various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
  • Resolve technical problems as they arise.


EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, data engineering, computer science or related field required
  • Working knowledge of data engineering, data architecture and analytics/BI required
  • Experience leveraging database systems including data warehouses, data marts, and models needed for business, financial, and operational analysis and/or reporting
  • Preferred experience with the following tools and skillsets:
    • SSMS
    • SQL and T-SQL coding
    • Stored procedures and views
    • SSRS
    • Power BI
    • Azure PaaS (ADF, Azure SQL, etc)
  • A willingness to learn cloud technologies (specifically AZURE PaaS, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Azure SQL Server, etc.) and how to leverage these technologies to improve business intelligence
  • Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills are essential
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
