Big Data Engineer- Fully Remote

Mi-C3 is seeking a data savvy Big Data Engineer – to work remotely on a full time basis. As the successful Big Data Engineer, you will be developing features and related software components that make our solutions stable and secure, easy to use and easy to monitor. You will assist clients connect their existing data sources to the platform and develop state-of-the-art streaming applications. As a subject matter expert, you don’t mind sharing your knowledge and insights during development cycles, or even during training sessions for clients. You will be using the latest in open source technologies, working in an agile environment.

To be successful in this role you would need a background in Big Data and IoT based protocols

• Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Leadership skills and ability to lead junior developers.
• Experience working on high performance web applications.
• A passion for technology and adapting to new technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple and competing priorities and projects.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Proficient in Java, Spring, Microservices, Multithreading, 3+ years of experience in Java application development (Java 8+ or even Scala experience would be great)
• Strong connection with Apache stream processing tools and frameworks, such as Kafka, Nifi, Flink.
• Experience with Maven, Git, CI, Docker, Jenkins and/or Gitlab
• Experience using the Spring framework
• Experience with NoSQL and SQL based databases.
• Experience dealing with IoT based protocol and security implementation.
• Experience with Hadoop or related technology such as Pig, Hive or Spark
• CDAP experience
• Experience working collaboratively using agile software development processes.
• Experience with Elasticsearch is a plus
• Some experience using Linux and bash/python scripting is beneficial
