Senior Cloud Data Engineer - Python/SQL

My client is a well respected global tech company on the hunt for a senior Cloud Data Engineer for a permanent position within their impressive and expanding team.

You will be responsible for the technical direction/development of Data Engineering tasks. This includes programming with languages Python, PySpark, data analytics libraries and Sql.

Your expertise will play an integral role in developing enterprise-grade data engineering architecture and pipelines collaborating with customer for product design, development and delivery.

Must Have

• Must have previous strong experience in Python for data engineering/analytics
• Demonstrable SQL and NoSQL experience

Desirable

• Programming and developing data processing systems in Cloud preferable GCP
• Understanding of Data Engineering and Data warehousing concepts preferably on Google Cloud
• Knowledge on data processing tools like/similar to Apache Beam, Kafka, Cloud Dataflow, Pub/Sub
• Working knowledge on Big Data ecosystem (Hadoop etc) – Good to have.
• Knowledge on data transformation/ processing both batch and streaming
• Experience in Cloud Data Engineering stacks preferably GCP.
• Strong data analytics experience
• Good to have Google cloud Platform experience or other cloud platform experience
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Strong problem solving, analytical and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of best coding practices and peer code review.

The role

• This team member is expected to work with clients whilst scoping out techno-functional activities / solutions
• Participate in development of plans and strategies of data engineering design and delivery.
• Lead and/or monitor and optimize system performance/throughput.
• Influence the future direction.
• Develop extensible solutions that meet both short and long term Business requirements.
• Ability to define and develop appropriate metrics for ongoing Communication and management control.
• Manage work effort sizing, timelines, scope and project.
• Open to seeking additional responsibilities: Data Engineering strategy, architecture, engineering, design thinking, implementation planning, tuning and monitoring
