The Data Engineer focuses on providing support for existing customers and processes, as well as participating in managing and delivering allocated Enterprise Data Management projects. This also covers lending capability and support to other EDM projects where required from a broad and deep technical and developing functional background.
EDM has developed a comprehensive data warehouse environment and this role will be pivotal to the ongoing support and development of the EDW, including the re-development of legacy artefacts in the new EDW.
Key responsibilities include:
Compliance of Procedures and Processes used within the Enterprise Data Management team
Ensure all work undertaken on EDM projects is executed consistently and professionally according to established Allianz Partners EDM procedures and processes
Data definition, business rule documentation and education
Produce and educate documentation, data definitions and business rules to build up the Allianz Partners knowledge base
Relationship management
Build and maintain good working relationships with relevant business areas to continuously improve business intelligence services to the business
Process Improvement
Show initiative in identifying and implementing areas of improvement within the current EDM processes
Training
Contribute to the development of analysis and information management skills throughout the organisation and specifically within the Enterprise Data Management team
Conduct training exercises to enable the transfer of knowledge from the EDM team back into the business
Business Intelligence Life Cycle
Independently engage Allianz Worldwide Partners business users to determine business requirements
Ensure all EDM requirements are properly documented according to Allianz Worldwide Partners standards
Ensure Allianz Worldwide Partners naming standards are followed
Ensure all EDM Projects follow a consistent framework, and contribute (lead) ongoing improvements to these frameworks
Ensure data model design and development aligns with data warehousing and DataVault best practices
Consult with business stakeholders to review broader implications of project and identify end user training, or further development opportunities where required
Perform quality control on delivery artefacts for allocated projects
Prioritisation
Manage and where appropriate escalate competing priorities to an early resolution on task interfaces and responsibilities, and escalate concerns when necessary
Balances project / initiative delivery with production support requests
Supports adequate prioritisation and management of expectations by business users
Business Interaction
Assume a role in the education of Business Intelligence practises and support available to the business
Innovation
Identify ways of improving information delivery, data capture, design and business processes through the provision of technical solutions.
Identify data delivery options above and beyond what was originally specified by the business
Drive and implement initiatives and process improvements to ensure the accuracy, consistency and quality of corporate data for Allianz Worldwide Partners
Analysis
Perform financial analysis to support the corporate requirements, including trends, KPIS, ROIs, profitability and allocations
Perform commercial analysis to support the business units, including profitability, costing and product optimisation
Perform analysis to support operational requirements, including utilisation rates and productivity analysis
As the successful Data Engineer, who will show experience in:
Experience within an Information Technology or Technical Reporting Department
Desirable IT qualifications or similar
Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience in enterprise data warehousing and Business Intelligence tools, technologies and methodologies

Demonstrated experience in relevant Business Intelligence applications (Databases (Oracle and SQL server), Data Vault methodology, MicroStrategy, Jenkins, and the Microsoft Business Intelligence suite)
