Data Scientist

Hybrid role – Dublin, Ireland

This role reports to : GCO Resource Algorithm Director

We are seeking a BRM (Budget & Resource Management) Algorithm Manager to join Global Clinical Operations as a technical expert drawing on their mathematical abilities and machine learning knowledge to build algorithms that accurately forecast resource demand and predict future costs, helping our clinical operations team to plan upcoming development activities and devise an efficient portfolio strategy!

This is an exciting opportunity to expand on your technical skills and at the same time learn more about operational excellence in drug development, being in a translator role. This position is an integral part of our cross-functional and agile digital product development team, collaborating closely with budget, pricing, and resource leads, being able to speak their language and support their efforts with technical expertise as well as excellent understanding of the various business challenges that we aim to address.

Key responsibilities:

  • Extract data from (un-)structured sources, transform information to make it machine-learnable, and load insights into relational databases.
  • Identify opportunities and limitations in data. Understand business implications and give recommendations on strategy going forward.
  • Design, implement, and deploy algorithms that address customer needs and take input of our subject matter experts into account.
  • Assure quality by detailed and rigorous model performance testing. Focus on transparent white-box models, which allow for interpretation.
  • Explain model results in front of non-technical audience and reiterate on feedback to improve usability and enhance capabilities of our digital solutions.
  • Collaborate with software designers and data engineers to build digital solutions that allow our users to easily consume the generated insights and interact with the presented results (human in the loop)
  • Analyze app usage patterns, supervise data processing pipelines, and track model performance to maintain high quality standards over time.
  • Design and co-develop software applications that allow for visualization of insights and user interaction with data-driven results.
  • Ability to contribute with authenticity, advocating for ideas and options; displays energy, passion and optimism while adding to the success of the team.
  • Champion of new ways of working, product oriented agile mindset and encouraging a culture of experimentation and dedication.
  • Consistent record in working with multidisciplinary teams in a sophisticated matrix environment (including remote or virtual team environments).

Role Requirements

Essential requirements:

  • PhD or master’s degree in a quantitative subject area (such as Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or Chemistry, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics and Physics, or similar).
  • 3-5 years of proven experience in Data Science, ideally the pharma industry or healthcare sector.
  • Experience in developing technology-based products or services such as dashboards and analytical insights.
  • Proficiency in data engineering and modeling (as well as model deployment).
  • Fluency in Python programming language, including toolboxes like numpy and pandas.
  • Experience with machine learning platforms, toolboxes, and workflows (such as TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn).
  • Practical knowledge about integrated development environments and version control systems.
  • Familiarity with time series forecasting and analysis.



Desirable:

  • Experience in resource and financial forecasting.
  • Understanding of AI Infrastructure, required to build reliable, fast, secure, and scalable solutions.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services environment, including Sagemaker plus ML lifecycle.



Experience with containerized applications and their deployment with Docker and Kubernetes.
