Introduction:
The key purpose of the role is to accurately manage and efficiently select customer populations based on requirements from Barclay UK’s c20m customer base. You will scope and deliver great multi-channel customer communications selections including direct mail, email, statement, SMS, In-App and push campaigns in line with the agreed strategic, operational, marketing and servicing communications plan.
What will you be doing?
Developing and managing your campaigns
  • Turn our business objectives into customer focused data selections by assessing business requirements from brief
  • Responsible for the overall delivery of data including change requests to the end to end timing plan making sure all campaigns are delivered on time and meet the exact brief
  • Work with the marketing team, internal component teams (UK and India) and external suppliers scoping the design of multi-channels customer communications. Agree delivery timings, provide timely updates and ensure that commitments to data delivery are met
  • Work with a group of Customer Targeting colleagues to balance workload, cover leave and support peer reviews
  • With support from your line manager, understand campaign and technical delivery options and impacts.
  • Follow team processes to use data manipulation languages, mainly SQL and SAS, to accurately and efficiently extract customer data selections based upon a targeting brief.
  • Perform thorough testing of your selections to evidence these have been built accurately against requirements.
  • Support Customer Targeting manager to deliver data discovery and participate in data walkthroughs
  • Contribute to create Risk Assessments on activity to support in the mitigation of known risks.
  • Providing data analysis to support the delivery of the strategy, propositions & plans in order to maximise the function’s knowledge & intelligence.
  • Document all work to a high standard with re-purpose/governance and controls adherence


Campaign governance
  • Responsible to follow process, risk and control governance that sits behind customer targeting at all times
  • Ensure full governance is followed across the end to end delivery via the appropriate documentation e.g. RAIDs log, impact assessments and change requests
  • Seek to improve communications by contributing to post implementation reviews (PIRs) and apply what you have learnt to future activity
  • Support the management of any issues and incidents to your campaigns using the escalation processes.
What we’re looking for:
Knowledge and Expertise
  • Knowledge and practical experience with SQL syntax and logic
  • Good planning and organisational skills - managing priorities across a range of projects/campaigns to ensure timely delivery.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Proven stakeholder management expertise


Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Practical experience with SAS or R programming languages, ideally in a commercial environment.
  • Practical experience with Teradata or Hadoop databases, ideally in a commercial environment.
  • Microsoft Excel to an advanced level.
  • Knowledge of Data Privacy and Direct Marketing legislation.
