- 3+ years of relevant experience in data analysis
- Experience with SQL and manipulating large data sets in a relational databases
- 2+ years of experience using data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Quicksight)
- Experience with Perl or other scripting languages
- Experience using business intelligence reporting tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, OBIEE, Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, SSAS Cubes, etc.)

As a Data Analyst within AWS Talent Acquisition, you will be at the intersection of data, analysis, hiring, and strategy that will make it possible for our teams to fulfill that customer promise every day and become the Earth's Best Employer.
In this role, you will own data analytics projects from beginning to end, and will independently build reports, compile metrics, and own ad hoc and trend analysis. You will utilize business intelligence tools to analyze data and drive key recommendations. You will work with Talent Acquisition leadership to achieve business objectives and communicate insights to key stakeholders. You will recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, analysis, validation, and documentation; and drive results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Building the design of operational dashboards and reports for both recruiting leaders and the businesses they support
- Performing complex data analysis across multiple systems to support both scheduled and ad-hoc reporting requests
- Data mining key performance indicators to discover root causes
- Creating and maintaining data visualizations that inform stakeholders on key metrics
- Conducting trend analysis to identify opportunities, highlight strengths, and provide recommended corrective actions
- Providing recommendations on organization health metrics based on data trends
- Developing programs, methodologies, and reports for analyzing and presenting data
- Acting as a SME for corporate recruiting data tools, and providing necessary training to team members on the usage of these tools
- Performing regular system audits to ensure complete and accurate reporting of data/metrics
- Working with a broad range of Amazon’s data resources in order to determine which sources to use for which information
- Independently analyzing business outcome data in order to identify relationships and trends; incorporate data visualization of statistical analyses
- Contributing to the writing of research papers for internal audiences
- Monitoring existing metrics, developing new metrics, and identifying actionable risk signals
This role can be located out of any North American AWS Office.
A day in the life
You will provide analytical support for various Talent Acquisition programs, and build tools to surface timely, meaningful, and actionable data that will drive proactive decision making. Your analysis will contribute deeply to the development of our strategy and drive impact against our hiring objectives. You will collaborate with subject matter experts within AWS and across Amazon to work through complex problems and to create unified scalable reporting solutions at an enterprise-wide level. You will have the opportunity to partner with the central HR Information Systems teams as an influencer on their next generation road map.
- Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical customers
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA, array functions, etc.)
- Experience working directly with senior leaders and end-customers to define requirements and reporting needs
- Proven ability to use hard data to back up assumptions
