Data Scientist

Planet Farms, founded in 2018 in Milan, is a leading vertical farming company. It’s currently present in the main distribution chains with its line of salads and pesto.

The company is in strong development in Italy and abroad and Planet Farmers today work at the production plant - the brand new and upcoming Cirimido Plant (Como, Italy) at the R&D Center on the outskirts of Milan, as well as at offices in Italy (Milan), Portugal (Coimbra), the United Kingdom (London) and the Netherlands (Eindhoven).

Our data team is looking for a talented Data Scientist who’s excited to dive into everything from time series forecasting to modeling and helping us create a solid data platform. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves tackling tough data problems, has a passion for theory and research, and wants to work in a multicultural environment. Inside the team, you’ll be working closely with the machine learning team, software engineers and other teams across the company to bring our vertical farming vision to life.

Activities:

• Develop models and perform time series analysis to predict future trends in agriculture and farming operations.
• Identify patterns and trends in our data, providing insights that help drive strategic decisions.
• Use statistical techniques to support predictive modeling and optimize processes.
• Help with simulations and modeling projects that use our past knowledge.
• Collaborate with our data engineers to build a robust and scalable data platform.
• Visualize and communicate data insights so that everyone in the company can understand the impact of our work.

Knowledge:

• Solid understanding of statistical analysis and predictive techniques.
• Experience with modeling and abstraction, taking complex problems and simplifying them into understandable data models.
• Proven skills in time series forecasting and trend analysis.
• Basic knowledge of machine learning algorithms and concepts.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, manipulation, and model building.
• Basic knowledge of data engineering principles.
• Expertise in creating data visualizations to share insights with technical and non-technical teams.
• At least 1 year of experience
