Associate Data Engineer
We are looking for a data engineer to join our growing software and analytics team. This position is an exciting opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a technology transformation effort and create data pipelines and analytics tools from scratch, with the support of an experienced and passionate team that develops technical solutions to support data-driven policymaking and quality improvement in the human services sector.
Who We Are
HSRI is a nonprofit that has been researching, evaluating, and improving the quality and capacity of public health and social services for 45 years. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
This is a remote position but with the eventual option of working from our Cambridge, Massachusetts office, which is accessible by public transportation.
What We’re Looking For
This position will help expand and optimize our data flows and data collection tools for cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has experience building data acquisition and transformation pipelines and wrangling data to support multiple data initiatives. The data engineer will support other engineering staff, software developers, data analysts, and data scientists and will ensure that optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
Initially, this role will lead the translation of survey definitions for a key project at HSRI supporting quality services for people with disabilities, the National Core Indicators, into an XML format that can be read and displayed by our proprietary survey software. You’ll be working side-by-side with software developers, data analysts, and policy content experts to ensure that survey data is well-represented and appropriately captured. You will also have the opportunity to work with data analysts and content experts to turn this data into actionable insights to inform developmental disability policy across the nation.
Responsibilities:
Full Time – 40 hours
