We are working on one of the most important challenges of the current decade: the electrification and decarbonization of mobility. Commercial vehicles in particular pose an enormous challenge, as large fleets, long distances and unconditional reliability play a much greater role than in passenger vehicles.
The new SPIRIT-E research project includes the development and implementation of shared charging infrastructure at logistics hubs as well as the implementation of integrated fleet and energy management all the way from the vehicle to the energy system. In this way, it helps to save resources, improve infrastructure utilization and achieve a successful energy and mobility transition in Germany. In doing so, we work with seven partners from research and industry, from OEMs to innovative start-ups, and implement developed solutions in real-world labs.
Become part of our Smart Mobility Lab at the Chair of Automotive Engineering and actively shape the future of mobility!
Your ChallengeWe are looking for an enthusiastic (Mobility) Data Scientist who is passionate about future mobility and logistics. As an IT expert in your project team, you will work on collecting and analyzing mobility data, finding patterns and linking different geodata sources to a powerful data platform. You will use this to develop models and simulations for intelligent fleet management for electric commercial vehicles and to quantitatively evaluate the feasibility and performance of the overall system.
Your ProfileAs the ideal candidate, you have a master's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field. Most importantly, you are passionate about IT and have some experience with databases. You have solid programming skills in a high-level programming language (e.g. Python, Java). Geodata, tracking and location-based services spark your interest and a well normalized database gives you a pleasant tingle. Besides your technical expertise, you don't lose sight of the big picture and together with your team you look for the most efficient technologies to achieve your goals.
Your Opportunities
As part of our team, you will actively shape the mobility transformation and build a valuable network of mobility and logistics players. For your role in the Smart Mobility Lab, you will have access to extensive tracking hardware, server infrastructures and databases. From the very beginning, you will take on responsibility and be part of a team of experienced Smart Mobility experts who will challenge and support you with their expertise. As part of your work, you will continuously expand your knowledge, pass it on and supervise student research projects in order to achieve immediate benefits in the logistics industry. If you are suitable, you will have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.
