Microsoft’s Cloud business is expanding, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth including AI!

CSCP’s vision is to empower customers to achieve more by delivering Cloud Capacity Differentiated at Scale. Our mission is to deliver capacity for all cloud services predictably through intelligent systems driven by continuous learning and a world class organization. The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

As part of the Cloud Supply Chain Sustainability Engineering team in Azure, we are at the heart of Microsoft’s cloud strategy.  Our mission is to deliver a sustainable platform for our customers & partners by combining science-based approaches to climate change with an engineering culture of delivering platforms and services on Azure using the latest technologies in Azure data.

We are looking for a Data Engineer, who can demonstrate the following traits:

Responsibilities

  • Increase the efficiencies of the Cloud supply chain by working on optimization solutions.
  • Build the infrastructure & code to process structured, semi-structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Identify, design, and implement process improvements to optimize our data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure and pipelines to achieve greater scalability.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and back-end services for real-time decisioning, reporting, optimization, data collection, and related functions.
  • Ensure that all features embody engineering best practices, elegant design, and high-quality implementation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including Product, Executive and Domain teams to support them on data-related issues and data infrastructure needs.
  • Seek and incorporate continuous feedback to improve the efficiency of the business outcomes.
  • Passion for utilizing the BI Stack to provide value and insights to the Cloud Sustainability business.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or equivalent field OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • A successful history of developing and maintaining end-to-end, high-throughput data systems and their supporting services.
  • 3+ years of software design and programming experience with languages like C/C++/C#/Java/Python/JavaScript required. 
  • 3+ years of working knowledge on SQL and experience working with relational databases on T-SQL or PL/SQL constructs.
  • 2+ years of experience developing Big Data applications in the cloud using technologies such as Kusto, Databricks, Spark, Azure Data Factory, Azure ML, Azure Synapse or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau or equivalent.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets.
  • A successful history of strong Analytical & Problem-Solving skill.
  • Proficient working knowledge of cloud-computing environments in the Azure data stack. 
  • Utilizing a variety of data stores, including data warehouses, relational database systems, in-memory caches, and searchable document databases.
  • Developing for continuous integration and automated deployments.
